The Family Advocate is responsible for assisting Early Head Start families in problem solving and setting and accomplishing family and individual goals through direct service, resources and referrals. This position requires an individual who can work independently, communicate effectively in writing and orally, understand and implement procedures and practices, and demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in their work.

• Responsible for recruitment, selection, and enrollment following ERSEA criteria.
• Provide child development, parent education, social services and health services.
• Provide support though home visits to families of infants and toddlers and expectant mothers.
• Implement a comprehensive program of social service assistance to center-based children and families.
• Coordinate implementation of volunteer program.
• Advocate for, work with, and help strengthen low-income families by assisting in setting goals, building on strengths, and developing a plan to address and support areas of concern. Family caseload will be approximately 40 families.
• Promote family partnerships through parent involvement and education activities.
• Maintain resource library with social-emotional, mental health, and life skill materials and networks with other community agencies to keep information on family support resources current.
• Make referrals and help families identify and access needed resources: health, mental health, social services, education, and training. Provides family services training for staff.
• Knowledge of community resources and linkages to locate and access resources.
• Work cooperatively with groups of parents, supporting agencies, staff members and community.
• Conduct client interviews and complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion for maintaining eligibility, transferring childcare provides, and terminating services.
• Screens potential clients for eligibility through state and/or local funding.
• Responds to requests for information from clients/providers timely and within the client confidentiality guidelines.
• Maintain current and accurate information in the designated database.
• Review files monthly for accuracy, completeness and any other requirements of funding sources.
• Attends all meetings/in-service training's, as requested or required, in a punctual professional and contributory manner.
• Completes all reports in a timely and comprehensive manner as required.
• Adhere to all Coalition personnel policies and procedures.
• Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.
• Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers to include:
o Prompt and courteous response to provider and parent inquiries via telephone and email
o Prompt and courteous response to inquiries from other staff via telephone and email
• Interact as part of a team by exhibiting dependability, cooperation, initiative, and punctuality.
• Assist with provider inquiries regarding program payment guidelines and regulations.
• Organize data for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
• Assist with all special assignments, research, and report preparation. Participates in the organization of special activities related to child care programs.
• Investigate complaints as required.
• Communicate in a courteous and respectful manner to provide quality customer service and ensure a positive relationship in interactions with all employees and customers.
• Perform other duties that may be necessary to maintain the success of the organization, as determined by management.

• This position requires successful completion of the level 2 background screening standards as set forth in s. 435.04, F.S.
• Requires frequent travel in Palm Beach County.
• Valid Florida driver's license is required.
• Ability to work flexible schedule, if required.
• This position requires local travel to Palm Beach County office locations for meetings, trainings and other required duties.
• Regular local daily travel in Palm Beach County is required.
• Bilingual a plus.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year College or university.
• One to two years related experience and/or training.
• Experience in Head Start/Early Head Start programs is preferred.
• Bilingual is a plus.

An ideal candidate will be experienced using Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. The candidate will have an advanced experience using Outlook in an Exchange environment, tech savvy over all, experience with Box/Dropbox, familiarity with Android and IOS, Windows 8 and 10 experience, and experience working offsite using portable scanners and laptops.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate and handle keyboards and office equipment. • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• This position may require 50% or more travel in Palm Beach County. Position requires county-wide travel on a regular/frequent basis as it is community based with services being provided directly in local communities and/or in individual's homes.
